RN House Supervisor

Summary: 

Looking for an individual who can supervise staff and who will provide direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting.  This person will promote and restore patient’s health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians/providers and multi-disciplinary team members; providing physical and psychosocial support to staff, patients and families and supervising assigned team members.  

Responsibilities of the Position: 

  • Assures nursing staff resources are appropriate to the shift/unit needs.
  • Supports quality and efficient delivery of nursing care in all areas.
  • Serves as administrative resource to staff.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Nursing and unit Nurse Managers, serves to implement and maintain quality nursing care to NSMC patients and assures Hospital quality measures are maintained in delivery of care and clinical documentation.
  • Prepares report and communicates pertinent information/incidents to on-coming house supervisor/nurse managers.  Documents in House Supervisor’s Communication Book to assure passage of accurate and current information to all supervisors at shift change.
  • Documents details of potential disciplinary/behavior problems and sends information to appropriate clinical nursing manager and Director of Nursing.
  • Documents details of incidents involving physical plant, IT, and operations & services and forwards information to appropriate department.
  • Assist nurse managers with employee evaluations through input and anecdotal note documentation of both positive and negative observation.
  • Acts as nursing staff representative to providers as required.
  • Responds to all emergencies and resuscitation.
  • Continually evaluates quality of nursing care in all areas, making patient rounds as able.
  • Assures timely admissions, transfers and discharges during shift.
  • Initiate incident reports when necessary with follow-up with the Director of Nursing and QA/RM Safety Director.
  • Serves as nursing resource person to staff.  Be available and willing to teach as need arises.  Maintains current knowledge of NSMC Policies and Procedures..
  • The House Supervisor maintains a professional attitude, is expected to maintain a high degree of self-motivation and communicates well with providers and those responsible for delivering patient care.
  • The House Supervisor must support staff in discipline of assuring the timely and exacting level of data entry into the electronic health record. Is continually up to date and proficient in documenting into the Electronic Health Record.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years of direct RN experience preferred
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Mississippi
  • Current BCLS/ACLS certification
  • Must promote and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
