Clinic Nurse Supervisor

Job Summary: Assists RN’s, LPNs, and MA/ triage in the ambulatory care setting with documentation in the electronic medical record, patient flow, attendance at on-going nursing education sessions provided by NSMC, ordering of clinical supplies, adherence to rural health clinic clinical policies and procedures, and infection control. Key stakeholder in the technological implementation of all components of the electronic medical record and maintains the schedules of the clinical staff.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in expediting patient flow, recording of patient data for charts and billing purposes, and communication between providers and staff.
- Performs a quality assurance check on each nurse’s station every month as part of being survey ready and random drawer checks 3 weekly, ensuring that nursing staff is maintaining medications, removing expired meds, labeling multi-dose vials, Emergency boxes are up to date, and maintaining a clean, neat nursing station environment with no boxes on the floor.
- Maintains compliance with RHC rules on a daily basis, incorporating Take 5’s based on RHC rules and regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Provides orientation to new nursing staff employees, including providing them with a copy of the RHC rules and regulations to remain compliant with federal and state guidelines.
- Maintains accountability in operation of the drug closets and all pharmaceutical relationships.
- Prepares work schedules for nursing staff.
- Performs direct patient care tasks when necessary and schedules clinical staff training sessions in coordination with NSMC education nurse. Serves as preceptor for LPN student nurse personnel.
- Attends all Management Staff functions including but not limited to Clinic Management Team Meetings, Monthly Clinical Staff Meetings, Department Manager Meetings and any Strategic Planning that takes place during the year.
- Provides leadership in integrating new technology into the clinic setting including but not limited to software, equipment and the electronic medical record updates
- Customer service orientation with knowledge of successful customer service techniques.
- Professional attitude, high degree of self-motivation and leadership qualities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Nursing with experience in ambulatory care operations.
- Ability to operate computer systems, including Sunrise Ambulatory, word processing, spreadsheets and other computer skills as required.
