Education Nurse

Summary: Education Nurse supports hospital staff by providing training, orientation, and ongoing education to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. This role helps nurses and clinical team members stay current with best practices, policies, and required competencies. The Education Nurse works closely with leadership to identify learning needs, develop training programs, and promote professional growth across departments.
Essential Functions:
- Design, coordinate, and deliver educational programs, workshops, and in-services for nursing staff and interdisciplinary care teams.
- Assess learning needs through competency evaluations, performance data, and feedback from clinical leaders.
- Maintain and update orientation programs for newly hired nurses and staff transitioning to new roles or units.
- Provide unit-based support, clinical coaching, and mentorship to promote best practices and skill competency.
- Ensure educational content aligns with current clinical guidelines, organizational policies, and accreditation standards.
- Facilitate check offs, certification preparation, and continuing education activities.
- Track and document employee participation, competency outcomes, and program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with clinical educators, department leaders, and human resources to support professional development initiatives.
- Assist with policy review, clinical updates, and dissemination of new protocols.
- Serve as a resource for clinical questions and promote a culture of learning and quality improvement.
- Additional duties include backup for case management and stepping into clinical roles, including floor nurse or house supervisor, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a current and unrestricted state nursing license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience in acute care or specialty areas
- Prior experience in staff education, training, or preceptorship preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with multidisciplinary teams
