Staffing Coordinator

Summary: Responsible for entering patient care units’ nursing schedules into the computer system. Obtains daily staffing information from the patient care units. Coordinates staffing on a projected and shift by shift basis. Assigns staff to cover vacation and sick time. Assigns staff from the float pool. Performs minor secretarial duties.
Responsibilities
- Enters patient care units’ nursing staff schedules into the computer system.
- Schedules/assigns nursing staff to cover vacation time and sick time.
- Assigns nursing staff in the float pool where needed.
- Calls in nursing staff when additional staffing is needed.
- Calls off per diem nursing staff when over scheduled.
- Bases staffing levels on patient acuity per hospital policy.
- Ensures weekend and holiday schedules are updated in the computer.
- Enters and maintains time care/electronic attendance for staff in department.
- Obtains copies of valid licenses for registry and contract staff.
- Provides registry and contract staff with orientation packet.
- Has a good working relationship within the department, with the Nurse Managers and other departments.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN often preferred).
- Current CPR/BLS certification (Basic Life Support).
- Minimum of one year experience in nursing home, long-term care, geriatric care, or similar.
- Previous staffing or scheduling experience strongly preferred
