IOP Transportation Driver

Summary: Primarily responsible for safe and efficient operations of NSMC owned transportation passenger vehicles. Work involves the operation of a specialty vehicle in the transport of the patients along a fixed or flexible schedule as circumstances dictate. Work involves assisting passengers as they step on and off the vehicle and also assisting wheelchair bound clients by utilization of hydraulic lifts. Work involves considerable contact with the public and requires the exercise of tact, judgment and diplomacy. Work is reviewed through observation, conferences, and the evaluation of results achieved.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current valid Mississippi drivers license (Class D)
- Must possess physical agility necessary to lift and move patients safely
- Must successfully complete Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training
- Must be neat and clean at all times
- Must possess good verbal communication skills
- Must have temperament to deal professionally with disabled, disadvantaged, sick, and injured persons
- Daily vehicle inspection and equipment checklist
- Cleaning of vehicles (inside and outside)
- Familiarization of geographical areas and use of maps
- Safely moving patients from beds and/or chairs into and out of wheelchairs
- Transporting patients to various locations via company vehicles
- Considerable knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, rules, driving courtesy and good knowledge of streets and roads
- Assist passengers on and off the vehicle
- Completion of daily records and manifests which include mileage
- Driving in a safe and responsible manner at all times
- Assists with patient movement/ positioning while in unit
- Assists with lunch operations for patients may assist with other patient functions as needed within unit
- Incidental requirements and duties may be assigned as necessary
