RULEVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — North Sunflower Medical Center was recognized as the Hospital of the Year at the 2017 Nightingale Awards Gala at the Marriott Downtown Jackson. Over 600 attendees applauded North Sunflower Medical Center’s concern for nursing values, recognition and respect for nurses, and its long-standing history of encouraging nurses to actively participate in continuing education and community volunteer activities. Hospital Spokeswoman Dana Walker told Delta Daily News that “North Sunflower Medical center embodies the ‘little hospital that can’” spirit and added “the quality of nursing care is one of the reasons people say ‘Take me to Ruleville!’ Accepting the award on behalf of Sunflower were Sam Miller, Chief Executive Officer and Rodney Clark, Chief Operations Officer. The Nightingale Awards Gala pays tribute to the nurses and healthcare entities representing the epitome of nursing excellence in Mississippi and is sponsored by the Mississippi Nurses’ Association and the Mississippi Nurses’ Foundation.
